• Committed to redevelopment of Riverhead’s Main Street as a Town Square tourist destination

• Committed to putting the EPCAL property back on the taxrolls and attracting businesses which offer high paying jobs.

• Committed to reducing Town taxes by refocusing government on traditional Town responsibilities

• Committed to improving relations with the Countyand State.

• Committed to expedite development projects on Main Street and EPCAL to put our residents back to work.

• Committed to ending the current mismanagement

A Contract with Riverhead

1.Draft a revision to the Code of the Town of Riverhead that would create a mandatory tax cap on real property taxes levied to support the general fund. The tax cap would be tied to the rate of inflation.

2.Oppose a Town Wide reassessment.

3.Return the Dispatchers to the Town of Riverhead.

4.Increase the size of the Riverhead Police Department to add an additional sector.

5.Oppose any attempt by the County of Suffolk to take over the Riverhead Police Department.

6.Oppose any attempt by the County of Suffolk to take over the Riverhead Water District.

7.Adopt a fast track site plan review with default approvals for fully engineered plans for all projects in Downtown Riverhead and EPCAL.

8.Complete the rail spur at EPCAL.

9.Reduce Building Permit and Site Plan fees commensurate or lower to the surrounding Towns. Eliminate the requirement to renew a Building Permit for the full fee amount for projects just awaiting final inspections.

10.Propose an amendment to the Code of the Town of Riverhead which would prohibit the condemnation of private property for the purposes of selling or giving the condemned property to another private party.

11.Cancel the Master Developer Agreement with Apollo.

12.License the Dock behind East Main Street to a private company for the purpose of creating a marina.

13.Support to the fullest extent possible the Atlantis Marine World Hotel project on East Main Street.

14.Reduce or eliminate Building Permit and Site Plan fees for projects on Main Street where the developers commence construction within six months.

15.Work with the Long Island Railroad Museum to create a miniature railroad in Grangebel Park for children to ride. In the alternative, build an attraction in Grangebel Park which would draw people downtown.

16.Work with the New York State Legislature to designate the Peconic River along East and West Main Streets as a Community River in order to promote development like the Blackman Plumbing expansion on West Main Street.

17.Appoint an independent accountant/auditor to review all Landfill reclamation records.

18.Scrap the current Town Transfer of Development Rights preservation program and replace it with a transfer and preservation program modeled after the Pine Barrens Act whereby land owners could sell their development rights and issue certificates of development rights. These certificates of development rights would be redeemed by their owners when the subdivision or site plan is approved.

19.Increase the Town of Riverhead’s standing in the County and State by repairing relationships damaged by the current administration.
